Week of 12/22- 12/26

SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

REMINDERS OVER THE HOLIDAY:

Midterm Exam for both grades is Thursday January 8th. Students have received their study guides. Students also should have instructions to their chapter Projects that could be started over the break. I hope everyone has a great holiday season and I hope to see everyone back for a great new year.

Thursday- JEOPARDY REVIEW FOR CHAPTER TEST. STUDY !!!!!!!!!!

Friday- Chapter 4 TEST: EARTH's Water, Climate, and Vegetation.

Monday- Students received their study guides. Completed natural disasters video sheets.

Tuesday- Students will recieve chapter bonus point sheets, and make up any quizzes or assignments from the chapter.

Wednesday- CHAPTER REVIEW. JEOPARDY GAME !! STUDY FOR YOUR TEST !!!!!

Thursday- Chapter 3 TEST: THE PHYSICAL EARTH

Friday- Students will receive their tests. We will discuss the tests and they will have a current event quiz

Monday- Reviewed the Political Maps from the Map Packets. Political Map Quiz TOMORROW!!

Tuesday- Russia Political Map Quiz. Students should complete their history packets if not completed in class. The East VS. West Homework assignments are due tomorrow.

Wednesday- Collect East vs. West Homework Assignments. Students received Chapter 3 Vocab lists which are due on Monday.

Monday- Students will begin an In-Class Project involved with World Landforms. Students can
begin studying the information in their landform packets for the first quiz of the second
marking period.

Tuesday- Landform Project Day 2. Study Landform Packets.

Wednesday- Landform Review. Study Landform packets- notes and examples for Landform
Quiz tomorrow.

Thursday- Landform Quiz

Friday- No written homework over the weekend. Organize notes and handouts for the upcoming
week.

EIGHTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- Final Day of Eastern Europe In-Class Project. If project is not completed in class then
it should be completed for class tomorrow. Projects are due tomorrow.

Tuesday- Students will receive bonus sheets and review sheets in class. Study the study guide
along with the notes and handouts for the TEST thursday.

Wednesday- JEOPARDY REVIEW GAME. Study notes and handouts for TEST tomorrow.

Tuesday- European capital Bingo Review Game. Study capitals for Quiz TOMORROW.

Wednesday- EUROPEAN CAPITAL QUIZ. They will receive their European study guides today. They can begin studying for the chapter Test in one week.

Thursday- Any make up quizzes from Wednesday. Students will begin an in class project involving the countries of Eastern Europe.

Wednesday- Tools and Uses of Geography lesson. No written homework, review notes.

Thursday- Interactive adventures: national geographic.com laptop adventures. Review notes.

Friday- Chapter Review, Students will receive bonus sheets and should STUDY notes and handouts for a CHAPTER TEST TUESDAY !!!!!

8TH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- European Political map Review. Students will take a review quiz in preparation for their quiz tomorrow. STUDY YOUR EUROPEAN POLITICAL MAP FOR THE QUIZ TOMORROW !!!

7th GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- Students will begin a major in class project entitled- "My world map Projection." Each student will create an accurate map projection of a world that they create. They will be working on the project most of the week in class.

Thursday- Project Day 4 ( Final Day in class) PROJECTS ARE DUE TOMORROW

Friday- Projection projects are due. We will begin Chapter 2: Tools of Geography

8TH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- Take Home Quizzes are due. Students will receive their European Map Packets today. They are due tomorrow.

Tuesday- Map packet check. Students should bring their map packets everyday to class. Political map quiz in one week!!

Wednesday- Lesson one NW Europe. Notes and discussion.

Thursday- Pass back tests. Students will receive their instructions to the "My World" map projection in class project. CURRENT EVENT SUMMARIES ARE DUE TOMORROW.

Monday- Jeopardy Review game. Study your study guides for the test tomorrow.

Tuesday- CHAPTER ONE TEST

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15-19

8TH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- Students were given instructions to their In-Class Projects. Students should pick a culture to use for their comparative projects that will begin tomorrow.

Tuesday through Friday- Students will be working on their "Comparative Culture" Projects which is a 100 point in class project. Study Guides will be given out during the week to prepare for Chapter 1 Test which is next Tuesday. The students can begin studying the notes, handouts, and vocabulary.

7TH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- Latitude and Longitude Quiz

Tuesday- Today's lesson is "Map Projections" Students should complete the diagram worksheet regarding Mercator Projections for tomorrow's class.

Wednesday- Map Tools Practice: Students will work on a Map scale contest of the United States. Review notes and Vocabulary.

Thursday- Today's lesson is "Types of Maps." Students will begin an In-Class Project regarding Special Purpose Maps. The students will receive their Chapter One Study Guides and can begin studying those study guides for their test next week.

Friday- If the Special Purpose Map Project is not completed it will be due Monday.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY
Monday- Students will be discussing Hemispheres and Grid Lines. 5 Themes of Geography Quizzes were handed back today.

Tuesday- The lesson today is "Working with a Grid System". We will practice using and applying latitude and longitude. HOMEWORK: Latitude and Longitude practice worksheet.

Wednesday- The lesson today is "Maps vs. Globes". We will also be practicing our Latitude and Longitude.

Thursday- The lesson today is "5 parts of a map." The students will identify the major parts of a map and how they are used in everyday life. We will also practice our latitude and Longitude during a review. HOMEWORK: STUDY AND PRACTICE LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE FOR A QUIZ.

EIGHT GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Monday- The lesson today is practicing and reviewing map tools. Students were given a scavenger hunt for compass and scale. Worksheet should be completed for tomorrow.

Tuesday- The lesson today is "World Population." We will also be practicing our map tools by reviewing the practice problems. HOMEWORK: STUDY GRID SYSTEM, COMPASS, and SCALE

Wednesday- The lesson today is Major Cultural Traits. We will also have a formal review of the map tools. HOMEWORK: Study and practice using the grid system, compass, and scale for a quiz.

Thursday- MAP TOOLS QUIZ

Friday- We will finish the discussion of Cultural Traits. Also a Current Event Quiz.
